Computer speakers

Ok so I've snapped off a 3.5 jack plug in the socket on an iMac and I cannot get it out. Tried all sorts of hacks off you tube and its in solid, so I am giving up.

I just want to buy a cheapish set of speakers that plug in via usb and work and do not have a 3.5mm jack that also plugs in. The sound does not have to be great as its only for the odd you tube video, maybe for background radio and the occasional zoom call. Any suggestions please.

When I was in the States last year I saw a tool called Gripstick in a Radio Shack type store in Boston - was about 15USD. Designed to remove broken jack plugs. Got someone out there who could post you one cheaper than eBay or Amazon?

edit: it's a small thin walled split tube on a keyring that grips the pin

Reminds me of those hollow toothpicks you get in some places - probably banned now as single use plastics. Would be worth a try if the OP hasn't already.

Amazon Alexa are very good bluetooth speakers that can be linked to your computer or work as independent smart speakers. To link to Apple Music you do need a subscription though, to stream your music from the cloud. However it will just take the same music through Bluetooth direct from the iMac. I prefer the sound out of the Alexa speaker to that from the Bose speaker I also have.
The Echo-Dot isn't so hot. You need the taller Echo model.
