Can anyone help
How do you stop concrete cracking in new silo pit floor
Plastic laid first
Bullfloat finish
Saw tracked next morning
Cracks appeared before sawing and after
What did we do wrong?

Did you use any anti crack reinforcement? What was the concrete mix and what spacing did you saw cut it?

No anti crack reinforcement
do you mean mesh sheets in the floor
Mix 40n
Saw cuts 8 meters
40N is a good mix for silos as it will be more resistant to effluent attack but the down side is the extra cement creates more heat and hence it dries quicker especially with this weather. Concrete by nature wants to crack as part of the curing process, all you can do is try and control the cracking, that’s what the light mesh reinforcement helps with. Without wanting to be too harsh, but a silo poured nowadays without some form of reinforcement is highly unlikely to meet NIEA requirements.
