Anyone had any luck with grants towards concreting the yard ?
If so how did you go about it ?
Always seems to be a headache looking into it or has loads of hoops to jump through .

Yes. Did it though mid tier CSS
If you are in a red water zone and have livestock you will get more as they are desperate to stop effluent getting into water courses.
if you dot want the hassle of a 5 year agreement you can get upto £10k on a 2 year water capital grant.
Getting an agent to fill in the forms will cost you about £1500- 2500 depending on how complex.

We did it through mid tier water capital grants two years ago. Got our catchment sensitive farming officers approval which you need and just submitted the forms. You get two years to do the work. However you had to apply by June in the previous year i.e apply June 2020 to get an agreement from 1st Jan 2021. It is capped at £10,000 and they pay £27ish per square meter, has to have reinforcing in and be six inch on six inch of hardcore. We've just had another go this year to hopefully do another run.

I see you are in Stamford , you have a good chance of being in the River Nene catchment. We used Paul Spackman to help us. He was brilliant and If you are lucky enough to get Peter Brown as your Natural England catchment officer you are in a good position.

We went through the 5 year CS application process last year and successfully applied for numerous infrastructure upgrades (we are beef producers in a designated sensitive water catchment).
I didn't use a consultant but I did make good use of the local Natural England officer who sat down and explained how to do the application with me at the beginning and then checked / corrected it at the end.
It does take a bit of time to fully get your head around how to approach it but once you grasp what they want it isn't that bad.
