Concreting in posts

Have got some feed barrier posts to replace as have worked their way loose over the years. What’s the best way to concrete the new ones in? Could do with having stock back in the pens asap. Would post mix be strong enough?
TIA

If you can find someone with a core drill... I had some posts rottted off at floor level, was also doing a new feed barrier on an existing floor so asked him to drill down over the top of the broken off post, think it was a 400mm core he used, must have gone down through 20” of concrete then he bolts in an eye bolt, attach chain to forklift and out they pop. He did 10 holes for me for £350 total. tidy hole and didnt need a lot of concrete to fill in again.

Rapid set postcrete, don't skimp on the bags.

With this stuff, you just fill the hole up with it and add some water? You don’t need to add a bit of sand etc to bulk it up or that just making a mess of the mix?

If the concrete is good, just weld a plate on the foot of the new posts and bolt to floor with large rawl bolts. Did this for some rotten off staunchions on a dutch barn 30 years ago.
ask me tomorrow if it is still standing :):):)

Just fixed a couple of rotten 90mm square posts (25 year od ) in our handling pens. Cut them off at ground level. Local steel man provided box section that fit inside old posts. Knocked it 300 mm down then slid the old post over the top. 30 minute job, good as new
Thinking on a new job it may be worth putting a sleeve inside the post at ground level so it takes them longer to deteriate . -

Fit the new posts in sockets that extend up the post far enough to keep them out of contact with the silage (if that's what you feed) will extend the life of the new post and should be a doddle to replace in the future if needed
