I don't doubt there's plenty of people so it. But they must put a lot of hours on the quads, and it must be multiple people/lots of stress.

A decent dog will outclass a good quad rider every time.
I think it's a fair experience watching them gather sheep anyway.

Once used my racing quad to gather sheep.neither sheep nor dog knew what was going on 🤣

Not to mention the smile it puts on a miserable shepherd’s face, when the dogs are gathering a flock of sheep up while he sits on the bank watching them. :)

I can’t imagine ever working any number of sheep without dogs. Life’s too short.

While he sits with his head in his hands as the 3 dogs are supposed to be working together yet all seem to have read a different command sheet from the others… 😒

Well I’ve done my Good Samaritan bit. Texel x shearlings dropped its lamb and ran yesterday while we were out moving hoggs. Gathered that lot today, fluke drenched them and found 6 due to lamb soon plus this lambed one. We’ve had the lamb in the house overnight, strong and good drinker so feeling good about that. Put them in a pen together and she talks to the lamb and makes a right fuss. But when the lamb goes to drink she moves, not overdone with milk as I wasn’t feeding them for lambing now 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ve just had a heart to heart with her, the gist of which was “either stand still and let it drink or I’ll put a dirty great red mark on your neck and you’ll be a donner kebab shortly” topped the lamb up and left it at that. See what the morning brings. I’ve put the red marker on the lucky pallet next to her pen as a threat… 😉

Doesn't even have to be a decent dog a below average dog is better than a quad. f**k I'd rather move sheep on foot with my pain in the arse jack Russel walking with me than try with just a quad.

We got a field full of tack ewes next house . Whenever I start the bike up they run like buggery heck to the far end of the field its quite amusing . . I think that all their used to is a bike.
