I was at the national Shetland sheep show and sale yesterday, held in Somerset obviously because none of those sheep would live long on the islands

It’s the easiest way to do yourself looking at ewes in September that look half decent but won’t make spring. Those don’t even look decent now

Not if he can help it. Buys for other folk usually and other neighbours who do tractor work for him. He doesnt pay them for the work,but they dont pay him for the sheep kind of thing. He has been doing it many years though,has a good eye for sheep,and is sharp around the ring.

290 out of fort today. White lambs absolutely on fire for the size on offer. Not much of a white faced lamb to make £60. Real Tinys were either side of 50!!
Horned ewes strong money, John Wood types were 25-30, decent ones 38-42, fat ewes 45-60

at southwaite now, almost home

Did he buy anything? Most of the shetlands went to Suffolk, as did all the soays annoyingly but I thought £20/head was enough for them.
Fair few people there not really understanding how auctions worked!
