That makes my morning on cows seem like a walk in the park.

Loading some fat heifers onto the wagon this morning and one tried to jump the gate and broke its front leg 🤦 got it shot and hung up but still far from a good result.
Heading off tomorrow in search of a large chest freezer 🤣
I feel your pain, it’s just sh!t you don’t need, totally fûcked my day, by the time I’d sorted that shît out there was no point starting any major shepherding jobs cus the day was gone, ended up just going around everything else and just seeing everything was on its feet, I think a couple of ewes dead on their back might of tipped me over the edge 🤬😂

Hey @livestock 1 youll appreciate this, had to get a gang of cows in the yard today to get a couple of culls out for someone, cows are directly opposite the farm so only had to stand at the gate and shout them and they just strolled in because I hadn’t given them a bale yet, walked behind them up the yard and one dropped down with mag, pumped a load of shît in her but she was on for dieing, mrs runs down the yard and shouts “there’s a cow in the slurry pit”!! Silly bitch had got a gate down an fell through sleepers, lassood her and dragged her out, she jumped up! By now the first one had expired, put the slurry pit cow back in yard with the others only to find another cow down and flip flopping about!!! 😱😱😱 got a bottle in her vein an she was up in half an hour!! f**k me what a cûnt of a morning 🥃

That sort of stuff makes me glad I only have sheep these days. At least the daft lamb that somehow hung himself in the hay rack this morning, and the ewe that finally expired tonight after filling up with fluid, are only a couple of hundred quid lost. :banghead:

Yeah it was looking like quite an expensive day at one point!! Dead sheep are a constant niggle but dead cows fairly f**k me off

I've a large chest freezer here. Well, 2 actually.

I'm not selling them. But I'll generously allow you to store your beef in it.

I haven’t, they are never without mag licks and really I don’t have big issues with it, first I’ve lost this year I think!! Normally put mag flakes in the water in the spring which I always feel helps at that time, I’ve been an got some this afternoon and put it in straight away! I’ll have a look at the molasses if I have any more bother, thanks!!
I think it a combination of grass, wet on their backs and being upset not getting fed and then getting them in just pushed them over the edge! That’s farming for you 🤷‍♂️

I was the same, by the time I'd faffed about sorting that heifer out etc the day was knackered. Just fed everything that needed fed and got the tups in for a quick going over before tea. Sitting making a list of what favours I can repay in beef at the moment 🤣

We started with Rumenco mag lick there’s loads available now. It does cows a bit of good because the grass is short of energy so it helps them in that respect and helps them make better use of what they are eating. It’s a bit bitter so they don’t just stand and sup it all day
