I would class inconclusive reactors and false positives almost as one. The sensitivity interpretation alters the likelihood of more false positives and more reactors at 25% rate higher than the interpretation for normal surveillance testingTested positive first time then clear second time but appeared on the map

In other words once you get some reactors then it’s harder to get clear
I think the test is 99.4% accurate or something the vet was telling me. Basically means if you have 1000 cows you will never come off restrictions due to false positives
They usually put us straight into tb1 3km 6 months radial testing if they are genuine positivesYeh I understand that- as soon as you get a reactor in the test, all previous cattle that had been clear on the day get reassessed under Severe Interpretation.
Last time we went down was first time in 15+ years so no animals remained from last restrictions plus changed from dairy to suckler. 2 animals on a pre movement test, then 3 on the herd check test. One IR on 1st 60 day, who then went clear on 2nd 60 day. 2 of the second 3 had calved and calves had sucked, tested clear multiple times since.
None of the 5 slaughtered showed lesions and all negative on cultures. Whether any were false positives is difficult to say though as it's down to time since exposure.
Just surprised a non restricted herd that had an IR which then tested clear was put on the map
There’s a big herd of dairy cattle spends more time on 1 than anything elseIn theory maybe. Local 1500+ milking herd and replacements is clear though in a TB1 area. They were down 2010-2013 and 2019-2020 but are obviously clear now.
Feck me, that's harsh!Watching Vicar of Dibley earlier and Owen reminded me of you
Roger Lloyd Pack who was also Trigger in Only Fools and HorsesI'd need to go watch it to figure out who that is, haven't watched it since it was on TV the first time

But trueFeck me, that's harsh!
Friends of mine who are testing 4000+ all the time went clear after years of being down and then accidentally sent a calf at 43 days with no test whole herd retestIn theory maybe. I've had 3 cows to abort for schmallenburg and 1 positive for it still in calve as I have had blood test gor it and vet said it could be a big thing in sheep this year last bad year for it was 2013
My vet said there is a herd down Devon or Cornwall way got 70% aborted to itI was watching a you tube video from Baldys farm and he was very disappointed with his cow scanning, he reckoned nearly 25% empty, wonder could smb be a possibility there, not sure what area he is in though, would it cause barren cows?. seems pretty good operator.
My son was out but in mid Wales
weve got post movment testing tomorrow, what's that sh1t all about? going to have it every couple of month's, just what we want when we get busy on field work!To me the whole country should be 12 month testing. With a better bloody test than the skin one. No post or pre movement testing, just every herd every year. Would make it a more level playing field all around
it's a crock of sh1t!Oh they are changing the post movement testing rules I think, something like if you are annual testing and you buy in from 6 month testing areas then you need to post movement test as well. Can't see much sense in it as they will have been pre movement tested anyway.
