What’s the collective’s theory on hung lambs?

I’ve never seen anything like it this year, must be running at 30%,someone suggested a dog might have been in them? But they aren’t revved up and I’ve never seen anything.
Every year its something different.

This year for us it's been tail breaches. Anything looking a bit uncomfortable, taking a while to lamb, garenteed tail only!!

Next year it will be something different!

Are you hung ones head only, or just big lambs correctly presented but stuck?

Cheviot or texel blood with over fed ewes usually! I’ve seen bugger all hung lambs this time, but I’ve had more watery mouth than I’ve had the last 5 years combined, joint ill already and lost too many ewes in the fortnight pre lambing. So hopefully I’ve had my share of shite now!

Head only.

Yesterday morning had three before breakfast then one backwards.

Only 15 singles left to lamb now and they’ll be big lambs I bet.

On a brighter note I actually drove up the field tonight where I wanted to go rather than slipping and sliding everywhere,it actually felt spring like today.👍
Been the dispersal sale for the family of my landlord who died last October today. I went with our telehandler to load folks after the sale. Vehicles stuck everywhere this morning, making a right mess at lunch getting the first items off the field. By half 7 when the last bits came off I was squashing the ruts back in as I drove on them. Still fecking wet, but a day with no rain was already making a difference.

Usual dispersal sale job. Plenty of stuff made the same as if not more than new value. The highlight being 13 old Rutland plastic electric stakes that sold for £28.

Been ok until about half way then getting a fair number need pull to get legs forward toes tucked right under jaw.
This is something we have got used to in previous years. Had a pair this afternoon it was second lamb.
Previous years blamed the Betex cross tups but had 2 today after Charolais, a few one leg as well.
Way more singles than usual.
Pet pen getting fuller. Getting to many ewes not attending to pairs. Saved most of the cold abandoned ones.

Our pet pen is non existent. But I’ve got 7 adopter pens at the moment 🤦🏻‍♂️ we’ve never blanket treated with AB’s for watery mouth before. But we are doing this year. I’ve stripped one shed worth of pens down, cleaned out and sprayed with disinfectant. Won’t be using it for little lambs again this time.

I’ve lost a few lambs this last week just stuck, all there presented right, just big single lambs been on in the night, annoying! Ewes came back home off keep in tremendous nick so singles have come big, all in all though outside lambing been a joy compared to inside
