Confessions of the Sheep/Beef Cattle/Pig Addicts

Doesn’t take much to make me fly off the handle at people atm. Got a complaint from footpath people this week that a gate is to narrow on bridle way, so I open the gate next to it and let the ewes run 120 acres, people complaining they got no where to run there dogs now didn’t go down very well this morning.
Same here some little things really get to me. A lass in the village rang the other night said there was a pair in the front field wasn’t looking right one of the lambs was hunchbacked. I went and took one off reluctantly the ewe was a Suffolk x it was a bad night as well, the lamb was warm and full her lambs were good types but were best on the ewe as one of them was the type that didn’t fill itself and wouldn’t take a top up off the bottle. They were put in the field so I can keep an eye on them they had beet to keep the milk going. The lamb is now in the 3rd pen of pet lambs in the critical pen getting tubed 3x a day because it doesn’t suck the bottle I did explain this
She is a canny lass and didn’t say owt wrong really
They were farmers and went bust
I will leave you with what you imagine my thoughts are which will be correct

Heavy and persistent rain here which is not forecast. Have plenty to do but dont fancy getting soaked through on a bank holiday sunday somehow. Two police cars just gone past sirens on. Can guarantee its a motorcyclist come off on a bend with the wet.Sundays is a big day for them on their race to Kielder and back.

Same here with the motorbikes they use the roads for racetracks on weekends fall off then try to blame everyone else for it. The air ambulance is often out shovelling them back up. One ran Into one of our trailers a few years ago made a right carry on about it all it was his fault the police charged him

Shed my ganzee (a battered Farmers Guardian waistcoat ) after about an hour and my jumper very soon after and still plenty warm enough.
Pleased to report no disasters here 🤞
Just feeding the cades and then retiring to yellowbelly towers for a barbecue and a few beers 🍻 🥩🥓
Just been drawing hoggs, soon had my next layer off and down to a shirt, very warm out on the concrete 👌

Cleaned a couple of sheds out fed and bedded them up loaded the snacker fed some sheep checked the inlambers fed and watered what’s in. Came in for a cuppa just debating the next move it’s either take the bairn out somewhere or set into the next episode whatever that maybe. It’s difficult to know where to go everyone is knackered wanting to be away from the place but not wanting to go far.
Pub it is then, ideal

Do you use the moocall for everything that calves?
No I don’t bother that much with it to be honest especially at lambing when I’m usually about. Having a bit of bother with them at the moment one is broken and I can’t get it over to Ireland customs have sent it back twice they think it’s a detonator silly buggers

Ffs 🤦‍♂️ bloody paddy’s , you’d think they would know a bomb if they saw one

I had 3 or 4 of them they used to renew them when they broke then they were fixing them locally now they don’t seem to be that interested in fixing them for us so out of principle I didn’t renew the other one the one that’s broke went wrong in January just as we got busy sent it twice to get fixed but had it returned twice by customs.
So I’m down to one, we only use them in the winter or while they are in not sure how we will progress. I suppose it’s like some other firms they bend over backwards to help at the beginning then they aren’t arsed as time goes on. There’s a new one here I haven’t registered I’m a bit annoyed with them to be honest

I found them very hit or miss , and a pain when using on multiple cows
I have saved a lot of calves with them to be fair. They don’t always go off but usually they are bang on. A few have been stuck with a leg back or something similar and have gone off when I wouldn’t have otherwise known. One of the times I sent this one to get repaired they asked for it to be repaired it came back ‘refused by recipient’ when we rang them they said it was customs, sort of not interested in helping us now

It's some sort of classic rally here today. Opel manta's, 205 GTIs etc. One is in the ditch when I parked the sprayer in the road after he sped past a perfectly good gateway.
