Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. I’m trying to broker an agreement for one of @JSmith ’s girls for one of my lads. Get a branch down into the midlands 🤣
You'll have to get up in the dales, see if there's any deals still to be done !

Some dowry to go and buy 300 acres. I'm asleep at the wheel. I should be making better enquiries.
A sight better than I managed to "negotiate" with the Mum of a very old and dear friend. There were 3 daughters, all very marriageable in the Bronte sense... ;)

I knew I was not on a winner when over an Irish coffee one evening (daughters were away at Uni) she suggested the dowry should be more of a "swap". I'd get a daughter and some ewes, I would supply a rotary muck spreader, "on demand" c/w driver, for spreading her yarded sheep muck!!

I went elsewhere.... :ROFLMAO: Still chums with all of the gals.

Should point out, she suffered with feckin' Suffolk x welsh speckled things. Enough to make me run back home.

She originally hailed from Llanwytrd Wells way, so Beulahs were in the blood I reckon!

What came with the currant wife?
Made me think. My girlfriends dad gave me an old barrel spreader. Perhaps that's it

You've got wonder just how bad these women are that the family need to bribe the potential husband with all these sweetners to get her off their hands

Alarm bells doth ring if they're prepared to throw in land and livestock....
Really bad. I Don't suppose they looked like Keira knightly in pride and predudice.
