We did 5 one morning a couple weeks back, find it just as easy to do several by the time I've got all set up for it. Makes it worth putting chest freezer on for and also to make use of cold weather windows for hanging.

It’s a miracle, I put the troughs out tonight with these hoggs and the most of the herdwicks came and had a nibble at the nuts

I’ve just paid £16.50 kill plus £26 cut and vac pack on 23-25kg carcasses
Bit more than I’ve paid previously at another place but it was a very good service

I seem to have more 15/18kg than anything else
Sent a Cheviot shearling wether straight in last year thst I’d bought out of the far north. Came back as a 36kg body. Damn me he was good eating. 4 steaks off each leg and still a decent leg joint for 4 people

If I had some 25 kilo carcassed sheep I would be putting them through the mart to show off instead of the usual 34/38 sheep I usually appear withGet you showing off with 25kg carcasses!

I wish I could get kill and cut at a better price £25 to kill and £40 cut and pack.

Don't think lack of competition helps got hour and half to aboutoir in either direction then delivery of carcases back to local butcher

He was telling me the other day how he’d been turning 55kg Suffolks back to the hopper as they don’t sell well till they hit 60kgs…If I had some 25 kilo carcassed sheep I would be putting them through the mart to show off instead of the usual 34/38 sheep I usually appear with
I might even be tempted to stay to watch them through!
oh to be a rich arable farmer with mountains of practically worthless corn to grind up and feed to the hoggs!
Some of these that have just come went over the Longtown scales at 51kgs. But lean, be interesting if I can get them down to 37’s in a month…

£15 to have them killed at the spot I use, then another £15 for cut up. But you get it back in 2 big bags and have to pack it yourself. Ok for home use but not ideal if they’re for half lambs
