I’ve just paid £16.50 kill plus £26 cut and vac pack on 23-25kg carcasses

Bit more than I’ve paid previously at another place but it was a very good service
Get you showing off with 25kg carcasses!
I seem to have more 15/18kg than anything else 😂
Sent a Cheviot shearling wether straight in last year thst I’d bought out of the far north. Came back as a 36kg body. Damn me he was good eating. 4 steaks off each leg and still a decent leg joint for 4 people 👌👌

If I had some 25 kilo carcassed sheep I would be putting them through the mart to show off instead of the usual 34/38 sheep I usually appear with
I might even be tempted to stay to watch them through!🤓

I wish I could get kill and cut at a better price £25 to kill and £40 cut and pack.

6years ago I'd pay 30 squid kill and cut
Don't think lack of competition helps got hour and half to aboutoir in either direction then delivery of carcases back to local butcher

He was telling me the other day how he’d been turning 55kg Suffolks back to the hopper as they don’t sell well till they hit 60kgs…

oh to be a rich arable farmer with mountains of practically worthless corn to grind up and feed to the hoggs!

Some of these that have just come went over the Longtown scales at 51kgs. But lean, be interesting if I can get them down to 37’s in a month… 😁😁
