I think people who have made good money this time will be keen to try again and those who missed out will be even more keen no matter what the fat is.
It’ll be those that end up getting their fingers burnt. Couple of folk I know have gone too hard at the smart end stores and had to hold far too long to get out on them. 2 years ago they got lucky with trade lifting and then last year they got burnt

I might have the years wrong but kept 500/700 hoggs over in 2012 did fairly well out of them 2013 decided to do 3000 and sold them all for £60 ish

Why not? Most lambs have wintered and added £80-£100 so £35 back to the breeder seems if anything too little
If my lambs went up £35 as stores, I’d sell them all as that and not bother with them as hoggs, i don’t think the moneys that good to keep them through at that, would much rather sell as one lot in September and not have the risk.

Job will settle to bring enough out of the woodwork for the buyers some folk will hold out some folk will take the bribe

personally outing them all in September is great but I want at least £100 to do so. £60 doesn’t float my boat in this day and age

What’s your crystal ball saying to do for this next year?
No idea I just remember what I did in reaction that year kept more over then they were crap everyone else had the same idea so the job was overdone
Might be a bit more resilience in the trade these days if I dare say that
Don’t take any advice off me I thought hoggs would struggle to be 300p by March they are £1 a kilo more than I thought they would be at the moment

You're not the only 1 who didn’t expect it, pre season I had planned to get stuck in and buy a lot more than I did but it just didn’t feel right at the time esp when pre Christmas trade was sub 300ppk

Store price was getting sorely tempting last November I must admit. In mid January I wished I’d just taken it and sold them, then by mid March I was glad I hadn’t. But yes, stores at £120 in august… I’d be having a draw
