You can have noise attenuators, though they only do the fans not the conveyors. I'll take some pictures of mine & post them up later. Dust is the reason your colleagues in Boston are stopped at night.

And if in another 40 years the scrap price is still £40/t and you could sell the scap for at least £1600, you'd say at that point then that the building had still not depreciated at all?

To be honest I am not that worried if it falls to zero, it holds 415 tons, you have the time, so work out the cost/ton over 100 years with end value zero and get back to me.

I agree with you, if the store were worth nothing today it would still have given you a long lifetime of service. I won't spend time calculating the cost per ton because my interest was particularly in the way you were thinking about the value of the shed over time and its depreciation.

You probably won't have time, but this is a very famous paper on the behaviour of humans when thinking about money, a feature which I think was originally called the Money Illusion back in 1928. I find it fascinating because I find myself making the mistakes that they discuss. I highly recommend it, even if you just read a few pages.
