Cordless grinder

Hi all .anyone got a cordless grinder ? I have a 18 v hitachi drill which very pleased with it as 1.5 batterys and was wondering if they would be any good for grinder ? Regards Richard.

Use a DeWalt 125mm angle grinder have 4a/hr battery and 5a/hr battery and would not have anything less. The 5a/hrwill sharpen just over half of a flail hedgetrimmer head

I have a 115mm and a 230mm Milwaukee m18, they’re awesome, the big one needs the big ah batteries.

I bought one a few years ago and don't no how I coped with out it now! 4 or 5ah batteries minimum or you may as well use a hacksaw as you will be waiting for batteries to charge so often!

Unfortunately not, I started with a basic hitachi on 2.5 ah and that was steady.... as others have said bigger battery’s are best, careful though you’ll start looking at other tools...

Cant comment on the Hitachi gear but I have a Milwaukee 18v 115mm grinder with 5ah battery. Superb piece of kit, used everywhere.
I have a 2ah battery and the grinder runs ok on it but not for long, I'd think your 1.5ah would be a fustration.

now you,re hooked, get a riciprocating saw to compliment your grinder it will easily outperform a grinder in the right application.

as said they are great for handy jobs, but really need bigger batteries if doing a lot, our first came wit 3 amp and they were ok for us at the time for notching tin on roofs etc but the 5 amp now is a noticeable difference for doing light engineering work around the yard.

we also have hitachi, 24vsds, nut gun, drill, and driver so plenty of batteries but the grinder would be the sorest on them.

I have 2 Makita, one is the older style brushed motor and thumb button, the other is newer brushless with trigger style button. I never ever pick up the older one now, love the trigger button and brushless seems better on batteries

Thanks very much all , really good answers to my question sounds like I thought it's a no go with my batterys if I go down cordless path I will have to invest in bigger batterys thanks again best wishers rich.

I like the dildo saw too. Cuts straight through a scaff pole, no sparks etc. Get plenty of blades though as they get eaten pretty quick.

Hitachi here because already had drill,driver and radio.5 ah batteries don’t think 1.5 would last very long. Handy to have in truck but not for regular heavy use.

Had a Ryobi cordless with a 4ah battery for a few years and it’s been ok, however just bought a Milwaukee brushless with 5ah battery and it’s in a different league! It’s got as much go as my Metabo corded grinder and the battery lasts for ages, 3 year warranty also ?
