CORNWALLS TV FISHING PROGRAMME?

watching that after the rick stein one, has he yet mentioned cornwalls world famous cornish pasties? but going back to the fishing tv programme i found it rather sad that one of the fishingmen said that when he was young 30 odd years ago, youngsters would q up to get a chance of crewing a boat, now today like alot of our industries our own youngsters dont want to do it and many boats now rely on foreignersto crew them, why is this the money wasnt bad ? a few weeks back another tv series about cornwall with simon reeves interviewd young people in cornwall and they said that their were no jobs and it was finished and to get out of cornwall

It all went wrong during the Blair years. Manual labour was frowned upon, and Universities got packed with folks doing sports degrees.

I expect you'll also have a lot of sons/daughters of ex fishermen who either lost jobs as a result of or were made to cut up boats in 1995 who have been warned away by parents or put off anyway.

Plus how many 35 to 40 year olds at the time got a job on another boat and stopped a school leaver getting on at the bottom rung, creates that generation gap which then leads to not following your Dad on to a boat later
