Cost of transporting machinery.

I am looking to buy a small muck trailer (2-3 ton) and as I am having no luck finding anything locally I am starting to look further afield and on Ebay. I need to factor in the cost of transport, so can you give me a rough idea how much it would cost per mile to have a trailer transported? (I am in Staffs if it makes a difference)
