Had a really busy day today, and made my first ever spray cock up,

Was putting some Magphos and amino on my wheat today, and after talking with agronomist a few weeks ago I said send out some teb for the gleam and a bit of moddus or equivalent for a couple of really forward fields.

Anyway decided to leave the PGR ou and just put 0.5 lts of teb a d the Magphosk and amino on,

Little did I know that the moddus was actually tribune in a 5 lt can with a label just like rubric.

So I sprayed one 12.5 ha field with 0.4 lts ha of tribune (MODDUS)

just whag it needed in this drought, why they put it in. 5lt can I do not know always been in 1 lt bottles before.

My fault and really pee'd off with myself
But like my son said, well at least no one died.

we've all done summat like that...trouble is when you do it you beat yourself up and extrapolate the worst scenario ...don't fret it'll be alright

Keep us posted of what happens please as several of us in here are very cautious of pgrs on drought stressed crops and this will be a good learning curve for us.

Sorry about the cock up it's so frustrating when something like that happens, we've all been there and done it.

Generic spray cans are really a pee take, all because the distributors want their own brand, I think the AI should be the name on the can

Very long time ago I put 10x the rate of straw shortener on a 10 acre field of oats in a similar fashion, different can size. The oats came in about a foot high but still yielded

last person i knew who did that with generic moddus said it did absolutely nothing to the crop ! (i think that was 1 l/ha)

I'll go out on a limb and say you'll get away with it at 0.4lt.

My recommendations were mis read by my operator a few years ago and he applied 1.0 l ha of generic 'Moddus' on a field. Made no difference what so ever.
I now only use genuine Moddus or Tempo and make sure I enlarge the . on the rec sheet.
I now seriously question whether non genuine sprays are actually the best value for money, and for important stuff eg T2 fungicide, I will stick with the main brands.

You can't saw saw dust..... we've all been there and unfortunately we will all be there again some time soon. Been potato planting today and my man put 20% to little seed on the fields I was really cross, however these thing happen. No one is dead or injured so it will be fine.

If you were doing barley instead the max dose is 0.6 l/ha so not too bad and some of these forward crops will really take off when it rains !!

Some say moddus doesn’t have the shortening effect it once had. I think you often get more of a shortening effect under rapid growth with plenty of n and moisture.

Just occurred to me do you think you are insured? I know I would be if I was contracting for the OP but not sure of the situation on your own crops? I doubt it will be worth a claim anyway but wondered on the principle.

Mistakes are always the best experiments. We’re usually too cautious when we do experiment as we don’t want to risk it messing up the crop and losing money and so often it doesn’t show a distinct enough difference.

I shall keep my fingers crossed for you and hope you are pleasantly surprised!

Sometimes even the things we do perfectly right turn out with hindsight not to be the best choice.
