With our dealers charging £80+ an hour and absolutely ripped off for parts, running to big hours might not save much money? Recently priced a l/h door frame for Bald Ricks old Deutz 6.61 I bought off him.. £4500!!

I was wondering if they service them a bit better
Reading the posts expressing horror at the service materials cost and cheap oil. That along with poor operating looks to contribute to a short life.
I watch Tractors go past here towing implements with no consideration to the bumps, their charge banging and crashing with more air gap under the tyres than in them. This can’t be good can it?

It’s only this country we get so obsessed with age and hours.
Too many folk think a tractor is done at 10yr old or 5000 hours.
I worked on a big cotton farm in late eightie in oz
The john deere 4650 tractors worked round the clock six days a week cultivating.

In the ten weeks i was on them they did 1000 hours each
Ukraine farmers will be working round the clock too

We don’t have the right attitude in this country to run tractors to big hours.
A good example there, your first call was to the dealer. Those boys in eastern Europe have a bit more nouse than us and will make a door or adapt something else etc etc.
their attitude is make do and mend

I don't completely agree with that. They make do and mend because that is all they can afford. I have no doubts that if they had the money, most would head to the dealer.
