Courier lost pallet

Had got a courier company pallet2ship.co.uk (they are actually a middle man type crowd) to send a pallet of digger bucket to Germany where I was doing some work. Pallet sent end of July. Was to take 5-7 days. After 5 days I contacted them and they came back to me to say it was in one of their logistic centres outside Paris and would be delivered no later than 2 days time.
Pallet never turned up. Gave it a few more days. Contacted them again said they could not find it. Gave them a week but then said I would need to claim off their insurance. Done that. Rang them about refunding my payment as they didn't actually deliver anything. He seemed to agree.
Now I spoke to them and they are waiting for insurance to decide nwhat to do. Asked about my refund and they said thats up to the insurance company. And claims take 14 weeks.
This all seems very fishy to me. But what do I do.

You may get a nasty shock when you read the small print of their conditions of carriage.

I had this with a local company. It was a nightmare. I do things face to face when I can. No hope of progress with the local idiots so I ended up talking to the boss. He got it sorted.

Then the same thing happened again. Same reaction from the idiot behind the counter. This time I was ready for him. "Oh, that's OK". I said, "I've got the manager's number here, I'll give him a ring!". Well, what a surprise, he promptly had another look and found my consignment.:D

our post code puts you 1/2 from us, but only 2 houses, we have hassle all the time, all 'big' farm deliveries have strict instructions, ring before delivery, as not only the post code causes problems, we have a little lane that looks to be a short cut...…...anything bigger than small lorry, cannot get through.
small stuff, parcel force, Hermes etc, are now good - unless its a relief driver.
We had a delivery from pipestock go amiss last week, excellent back up, till we realised it was a premium charge phone line.
