They've been vaccinated

Have they though? Thought I’ve heard that there wasn’t such a vaccine take up in some communities?

I get what you’re saying though, maybe just a scare story to make sure people think twice about hugging on Monday?

It would all seem pretty pointless if the vaccine program was now undone by this variant.

If they haven't been vaccinated it may be because they recognize covid won't seriously affect their chances of making it through the year, whatever age they are

It's pointless anyway, so being undone by anything would merely be illustrating that

The government was slow as usual in reacting to the Indian variant threat. It was interesting to see that Indian travel agents were actually sending their customers to the UK via Turkey for weeks, giving them a short holiday so they didn't have to disclose they had come from India at all at UK arrivals. Worked fine until parts of Turkey became increasingly infected with the Indian variant. :banghead:

Not sure what old Buffoon will announce this afternoon but have a tip from someone on the inner circle that you'd better make the most of the next six weeks, the gov are now in a state of panic as they have been told that the Indian version is past controlling & although it will affect the younger generation the most the government have been warned that this variant will cause many more cases of long covid than previous versions.
Cynically the government rather than admit the stupidity in allowing this Indian variant into the country may have decided for political expedience to allow the opening up of the country to go ahead on Monday & then the intention is to express surprise when in 6 weeks time the already planned country wide lockdown has to be reinstated in July.

Lots of hypothesis on your part , imo the vaccine will lessen any serious effects from this variant , after all it's been ariund since January

Not so much as you think, it's the possible long covid in younger people that is the concern the double dose of vaccine should take care of the worst of it for us older ones

Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere but if your over 38 and have had your 1st jab more than 8 weeks you can go online and book your 2nd jab almost immediately. My wife and I are now having our 2nds on Monday.
