Cow Twisted Uterus

Just wondering hoe common it is or how many people have had experience with having a Twisted Uterus in a calving cow???

We had our first one here this morning in a heifer with a very large calf and alot of fluid in the Uterus so vet said probably twisted over a wee while ago and she had been showing signs of calving during the night but without any waterbag etc out we just left her until this morning where she was doing same thing but pushing alot!

Quick check and from what i felt it seemed twisted but had no experience of this so Vet out and instantly he said it was a full 360 twist and was a C-Section job!
Calve was sadly already dead inside

Hopefully be a while before see another one!
As never had any experience with them it didnt even cross my mind when seen she was pushing but only slightly during the night but had no waterbag etc showing so just thought best to leave alone- in hindsight might of been what killed the calve sadly [emoji29][emoji29][emoji29][emoji22][emoji22]

They usually don’t show any signs of calving when they have a fully twisted uterus

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if only we could have it beforehand we do so much better.
Sorry to hear things didn't go well. Will the heifer be ok for breeding again or is she finished?
Have to put it down to experience this time :(
