I'm planning to renew all 4 liners plus pistons. I guess I'll need to make a disc to fit the bottom of the liner for the threaded bar to pull up. Is that what you did?
Liner won’t pass through a plate though , the tube will,spread the weight no problem , worst part is getting it moving , once it moves it will come out no problem.It is my opinion that wider plate should be used on top surface of engine to spread load rather than what is used in video

I am not talking about 6 inch plate!
I agree that considerable pressure is needed to start liner moving and that is why I use plate to spread load but once moved slightly it becomes easy
I remember back in the 70's when I worked at main IH dealer the Sykes
Pickavant puller had wide plates to lie on engine but the handles to turn were too short and needed extensions to move liner
Not done it before - any tips appreciated.do you know correct procedure for fitting new liners?
