Cylinder liner removal

I made puller from off cuts and threaded bar
You need to be careful that you are pulling square
are you only renewing leaking liner or all 4??
Are you going to fit new pistons?

I'm planning to renew all 4 liners plus pistons. I guess I'll need to make a disc to fit the bottom of the liner for the threaded bar to pull up. Is that what you did?

Could try running 3 or 4 beads of weld along length of liner, should then pop out.
Google it, plenty of advice out there.

Liner won’t pass through a plate though , the tube will,spread the weight no problem , worst part is getting it moving , once it moves it will come out no problem.

I am not talking about 6 inch plate!
I agree that considerable pressure is needed to start liner moving and that is why I use plate to spread load but once moved slightly it becomes easy
I remember back in the 70's when I worked at main IH dealer the Sykes
Pickavant puller had wide plates to lie on engine but the handles to turn were too short and needed extensions to move liner

do you know correct procedure for fitting new liners?
Not done it before - any tips appreciated.

Engine is in a B444 tractor which normally has the BD154 engine. However when I renewed piston rings about 10 years ago I discovered that pistons were BD144 engine size, so assumed prior owner must have replaced original engine.

Does anyone know how to tell whether engine block is BD144 or BD154? Perhaps they both have the same liners apart from the internal bore.
