Bought a David brown 990 a few weeks ago , i did not have the selector spool lever (pictured below attached) but hydraulics were working none the less carried about 50 bales with it and then the hydraulics stopped lifting I ordered the spool selector and a hydraulic filter attached the spool then when to open the gasket below the tractor to change the filter only to find there was no old filter there! So im still in the same boat no working hydraulics any idea where to go from here?

Other side of the seat you will have the dump valve (to lower hydraulics ir traiker quicker). Ours always plays up and the valve inside can stick even though you’re not using it.

No filter is not a good sign, how was the oil looking? Unscrew the dumpvalve and find a 10mm wooden dowel, chamfer it’s edge a bit and stick it diwn the hole where the dump valve came from to withdraw the valve. Clean the valve and chuck some diesel in the hole and re fit the valve with the dowel still attached then work the dowel back and forth inbetween your hands to polish up the valve on it’s seat a bit.

DB hydraulics are wonderful when they’re working!! How are the rubber boots on gear levers? That’s usually where water gets in!!
