had one that had to be emergency slaughtered and there's only a few that will do it in the area, one firm suggested the above, couldn't believe what i was hearing tbh , pee sh!t and blood everywhere lifting it up aswell i reckon

Heard of people with mesh backed silage trailers transporting cows a fair distance for emergency slaughter and then pick up a load of silage/straw/beet on the way back (y)

I personally think that deadstock being collected by the knackerman and transported round the countryside stopping off at 20 other farms is a terrible idea. It would be cheaper and there would be less chance of disease spread if you could just tip deadstock in a hole or burn it.

And with us they all get skinned 10 mile away and then a few times a week they all get transported by bulker up to Cumbria i think? A bloody long way from Pembrokeshire to there!

a few years back seen a by products truck in town with dead cow on top thought to myself just the great country comes to town feeling we need
think part of it is poor PR 2nd part of it is respect for the dead noone would toss they dog or nana on the back of a ute
They are quite happy to throw their dead dog into farmland though? cant say I've seen any nanas though?

I wish the dog had been micro chipped and the owner done!!!

Dead right (y) (please excuse the pun)

I've taken fresh ewe in back of truck, tarpaulin tied tight nobody any the wiser what I was transporting. No smell no blood no problem.
Not true, many years ago I took a dead ewe to knacker yard, where trading standard etc were doing an inspection and was warned that the dead animal must be in a sealed container and the vehicle needed a plate on side saying something like category 1 srm, not fit for human consumption. Not sure what the first bit means but I'd have thought the second bit was obvious.
It was just a warning but my details were recorded and if caught doing it again I would be prosecuted. It happened quite soon after the ban on burying dead stock, I thought I was doing the right thing but the authorities had other ideas

Wow....genuinely thought if covered then was OK. I guess pleading ignorance wouldn't help me though, cheers for heads up.

I have been told this by trading standards as well, I needed a bit of paper to say who I was, where I lived and what I was transporting to the kennels. The paper was supposed to be passed to a policeman or VOSA official. Spent hours driving round but couldn't find one. :(

I'm also told that there was a few dead lambs at the front of load.
Probably in way to kennels at Kineton. It's only 1 junction down motorway.
At very least we thought it ought to be covered.

I agree folks need to know where food comes from but transporting deadstock like that just gives us all a bad name and shows we don't take bio security seriously.
