Dealers invoices

Speaking to a neighbour yesterday , a certain dealers bills are becoming a little alarming and more.

He’s had a certain payable warranty job done on a tractor and whilst the fitter , sorry I mean technician , was on site had a look t another tractor which was a case of looking under the cab for a pipe , 1 minutes work.
When the warranty bill come through it also had travel time to the farm for the 1 minutes work looking at the other tractor but was out on site anyway , further more the part that was ordered by the farmer was invoiced before the part was at the dealer.

Another main dealer who will remain nameless did a job for us on a yellow machine , fitter out mentioned after us he’s got to wait till mid day before travelling 10 miles to work on another machine , did our job and an hour later was spotted by myself parked in a lay-by an hour or more later , bill comes in for 3x the hours fitter was on site , we sent cctv video to the dealer of van in and out and times , bill was brought back into line.

So just a wrod of warning , just because you have used said dealers for a long time doesn’t mean much as it seems to us , always write down time fitter turned up and drove off , you might save yourself a day or two out with the family.

I questioned a bill we had once, was told by dealer even when the van leaves the farm your still on the time, they have to get back to dealership, clean out van then they clock off. No trust left any more.

I had dealer out to do some warranty work said to them while they were coming tractor was near enough due a service they could do it while they were on farm. Sent a bill for service and they charged for travel and time on the farm when they were also completing the warranty job. Questioned them about been charged for travel and they said they can't claim it from warranty. Told them if I'd just had them out for warranty I wouldn't be recieving a bill for travelling so next time I'll let them come out do any warranty work then call them out for a service another day

Just had a quote for Manitou 2000 hrs service as still in warranty,I think it was just over £2000,bearing in mind it was serviced in February, they have become very expensive machines to run
All machines have its frightening, labour just costs an absolute fortune ! Some pf the money they have to pay to get good staff is unbelievable … all to be paid for bu the farms

I worked for a main cnh dealer for 31.5 years 2 on horticultural the rest on ag any job was charged the time one left the depot and got back, if when i left a job and it was knocking off time * i only booked the time to get home and not back to depot but i do know some others who did, we also had during the 1980's a big farmer who had at least one farm an 1 3/4hr away and would only have our depot look at his machines while under warranty even though our other depot's were closer, how our firm claimed for any of that i never knew. *before any pundit states there is no knocking off time on farm jobs believe me i have worked two different years all of one day same night and next day and it's been midnight on several occasions before i got home all to repair a machine that was urgently needed and can assure you every farmer big or small and good or bad was treated by me with the utmost respect and most certainly would not book time to look at another machine unless i had to maybe remove guards or component to look at said problem unfortunately today's mechanics are not in the same league due to the way society is who in turn learn from the way government behaves.

Last service on our 635 was 2000 hours. Pretty sure it wasn’t any more than the £1k mark. Had it in my head it may have been just under (plus vat).
Edit- I should probably add from main dealer still in warranty.
