Dealers not keen enough?

We have been looking at adding to our fleet and looked at new and very good second hand. Our problem being, reps of both main manufacturers and those of the tractors trying to gain more market share and sales. The reps or dealers just don't seem interested. I chased our local McCormick up for a demo or hire to try a 240ish hp tractor out this back end. I've chased up three times. They have had their chance as not heard a peep back. Always I'll chase it up. Our local NH dealer rep is just as bad. Just do not seem interested in trying to sell anything. Can't fault our JD rep really as he does get back to us sharpish but their prices are just high.

Like i say I've offered to hire a machine to try and we have good relationships with them all and pay our bills.

Anyone else finding the same thing?
Starting to wonder if they have all sold that much and have great commission at the moment if they don't need any more sales for a month or two.

Trying to change a tractor now and going just by salesmen then yes JD are fantastic. Helpful and keen.
It's been a fight to get anything out of any other colour and impossible to get any demos.
Spoke to 3 or 4 other farmers and contractors who all have said the same thing.
To be honest I'm glad to hear its not just an issue I'm having.

It seems to be commonplace generally now . Not big items but have 6 things on the go with 6 firms and have to say it's hard work as I seem to be the one doing all the chasing and coming up with options ( which I have researched). Really feel like telling them to stuff it but need the items !

Yes same thing. No reply from two JD dealers in spring. Finally got a case rep but felt I was begging them for a price. Took JCB about 3 months for call me back, them another month to get me quote.

I am stunned how hopeless they are. Think I could sell 10 x more if I were a dealer rep.

I said this to a friend the other day. I recon I could sell a lot more stuff as I would call back and go on farm in the mornings or in evenings and fit in with the costumers more. Getting a phone call back now is hard work

They all have to fill in CRM's for there given manufacturer ,which is taking them 2 day a week.Shortage of staff in the industry . Cost of running a demo machine & transport costs a £1000 does not get you very far on a lorry these days! They need to get down farm drives more & talk to people . Its ok having a demo on one day ,but you need to go & see someone who has had a machine a while to see the bigger picture good & bad. Then agree a price & have a demo if it does the job it stays. Put yourself in there shoes ,would you pay for delivery of a piece of your kit to be transported to do a demo & the customer might buy it ?

Found the opposite here, had Claas, Valtra, MF, JD, Fendt demo tractors. Just waiting on New Holland with new cab.

Told them in spring I'd be changing tractor in October to give them plenty notice.

Can't praise them all highly enough.
Did the Fendt perform as well as the hype?

Hi Rob, we have met on a sprayer course at Hodstock.

First world, middle class problem. I'm just praying mine don't break down.

Just hired a mini digger, 6 ton model amazed how cheap that was £488 per month (just for a month not long term), high spec new machine. Shame tractors are so expensive.

And the other manufacturers are so mystified as to why JD are again at the top of the market share figures.
Deere have about 23% market share in the UK, biggest brand, but CNH are the biggest manufacturer in terms of market share in the UK. There are also a lot of hire fleets that are Deere, it would be interesting to see the market share if you take out the hire fleets and only count what farmers actually went to the dealers and bought, rather than hired.
