Deer Stalking Value

I dont charge my stalker anything, he doesnt take the pee and I get a fair few saddles of venison off him. Useful to have another pair of eyes about early doors and late evenings, wallops the Reynards too. Like I said he doesnt take the pee and only takes out what is needed leaving the best. Only Roe, Fallow and the odd Muntjac about and not in great numbers excepting Fallow, where there seems to be some fairish herds fortunately not resident on my patch but when they come over he'll have some.
I dare say some land agent will tell you it's worth X or Y and I'm sure it probably is but you can run the risk if someone is paying for it they then feel they need to shoot everything that moves. There are stalkers and stalkers, they are not all the same.

If you need a numbers reduction you need to concentrate on female numbers during the winter. Work on a 50 50 split on carcase value. Make sure for starters if you don't know the stalker well to txt his on and off times so you can check up Beware of too many friends helping them out, these can often be paying guests so stipulate no trophy shooters.DMQ level 2 should be a minimum standard also check that the deer rights are yours to let it will probably be separate to sporting rights if tenants.

Knowing your area, I suspect that would be fallow. Stalking definitely has a value and it will be based on the quality of the stalking, number of deer culled annually, trophies expected, etc. If more hobby shooters (?) behaved as Mr Noo's seems to do, there would be more done on that basis, but sadly we have seen the other sort begging for "permissions" on here with predictable results!

Local knowledge is going to be the guide here and, I agree, the stalkers and the stalking will vary. Is stalking already let locally and what are the arrangements?

I was approached to do deer control on land I previously rented. My reply was that at this stage of my life, I would need to be paid! We compromised. I offered to do the deer control for nothing, control the vermin, put down a few birds and feed them, in return for permission to catch a few with a hawk. Both parties were happy as neither are greedy and it worked well. Otherwise, it is a matter of negotiating.
