Got a 1942 styled Model BN in the shed we are starting to do up, looking for a couple of bits and pieces rad cap and steering box cover to start with. Is there anyone in the UK doing bits for them or do I have to go stateside. Also looking for spade lugs as I think the ones we had were scrapped in the 60's. Got a Deere tattie digger I would like to sort out too. As well as a set of Deere potato drill shutters at the back of a shed.

Cheers BB

Funny as it sounds, try you local deere dealer. I have got bits for 1928 D from local JD dealer and werent badly priced if not stateside is best place to look. Depending on how much your ordering filling a container can be cheap way of getting parts. Think a few people bring them in occasionally.

Father used to just order them from the jD dealer. There are that many tractors being restored etc when stock items run low the bins are restocked again. JD parts back up for these vintage tractors is excellent and didn't used to be expensive either. It's sometimes quicker for bits from the states for these old models than newer ones.

Think if John Deere sell 6 of an item per year worldwide they will do a production run to replenish stock, also they do not scrap stock if sales fall below that level. Was told this at the European parts centre, Where they had some 1930s bits!

if you fancy internet shopping for your old john deere parts there are plenty of companies in the US that will ship to the UK
three that I use quite often are
Steiner Tractor www.steinertractor.com
Sharps Tractor works www.oldjd4u.com( you will have to email them first with a list of your parts required so they can get you a shipping quote)
and Davenport tractor www.davenporttractor.com
there will be customs and VAT import tax charges to pay on top of shipping charges
the serial number of your tractor is very important as there are changes within the production dates of the model
