Deleting Private Message Conversations

I thought I'd spend a few minutes tidying my private messages box out by deleting some of the older/no longer relevant exchanges. I'm probably missing something very obvious but how on earth do I achieve this, please?

You should be able to select a box next each conversation the scroll down to select what you want to do

Then select "Go".

You can select as many at once on one screen as you like.

It doesn't actually delete it. I don't know if you can? I haven't found a way yet.....

When you click Go it asks whether you want to ignore future messages or not.

Dunno, I rarely enter into conversations so never even thought about it until this thread.

It is only right that you can't delete them, the other party(s) in the conversation may not want them to be deleted.

Direct messages are only deleted once all parties have left the conversation. When the last person leaves it automatically gets deleted. That's how the system works, even moderators and admins can't delete conversations.

Thanks Chris. I had sort of guessed that it was like that. Same as Messenger.

It's just that sometimes pm chats off the suicide and depression thread contain a lot of personal information which doesn't need to be left sitting in the in box even on our personal machines. But I get that if you're negotiating a sale etc you want to keep your proof.

I fully appreciate that the chats are confidential to the participants.

I have just clicked the leave button and clicked the do not contact with further messages but assume that refers just to that one message subject.
