Deleting unwanted email addresses on android gmail

I have some unwanted addresses in my gmail which I no longer use and would like to delete them as they come up as guesses when I start to enter an address.
Most you tube videos show them being deleted from the Google contacts app which I downloaded thinking it would import all addresses from where i could delete the unwanted ones. The contacts app wants me to allow it to "manage and make calls" which I am not prepared to do so I have deleted the app. Is there any other way to delete them.

I wasn't aware that the contacts app had to be installed, I thought it was 'just there'???

Out of interest, why don't you want it to manage and make calls?

I simply open the contacts app, find whoever I want and press 'call' which phones them, simples.
I can also edit the entries in there.

Anyway, another option would be to log in on your computer to your google account here
https://contacts.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wC
and edit them from there.

I was just a bit worried about the allow contacts to "manage and make calls" bit

Are you saying you want to remove your own email addresses so it doesn't select them in the send from box?

If so I think you need to remove them from accounts in Gmail app. In the Gmail app at the top right click the image on the circle and then go to "manage accounts on this device"
