Hi all, watched a programme on tv last night about deliveroo.
Very interesting programme into how the popular food delivery app deliveroo works and has took over restaurant eliveries.
This app links restaurant and customers with technology.
I am surprised that this concept has not been taken up with in farming. an app like this could revolutionise the farming market place. Customers could order farm produce on the app, the app put orders to farmers. Farmers can choice if they can full Fil the order and know exactly what they are getting and when it’s picked up etc.
Delivery persons can ship orders between farmers and customers and collection points and packers and local abattoirs, local bakers etc.
This could even be localised to towns and county’s.
Even set up by farmers as some kind of cooperative
Definitely worth a thought as a way of cutting out middle men, ie supermarkets! And allow more of the profit directly to the producer.
let me know your thoughts

Not exactly but if you can go that extra bit further and produce a steak for that customer that is packed ready for a customer be it you have sent 5 bullocks to a local abattoir that has processed them animals and packed it for you, that order along with hundreds more orders are collected by a van that has been sent by the app and then delivered to customer and then pays you, cuts a lot of costs out and guarantees everyone is happy, there can be bonuses penalties incentives for supplies on time or late etc..

Good idea like .

hasnt this alrady been set up with Farmdrop, CSAs, Farm coops, Riverford, Abel & Cole endless really. Plenty around. There was another thats a copy of USA thing where you order and collect monthly honestly cant remember the name. Obv the quality and timings wouldnt work on instant puchases.

It would reply on farmers being able to kill, hang and prepare on demand and tin reality thats not going to work and youd have gaps and orders not satisfied. Thats why the above work best.

also how would it work if you killed an animal and 20 people only wanted steaks? The issue is is storage and waste. It would be a logistical nightmare and rely on farmers being wholesalers and having abiity to store pre-packed meat on the premise that it would all be sold. Reason why most people doing selling need to do half a lamb etc.
