Destoner and Ridger

I don't understand the need for a boulder box, gather the stones first then put stone fork on front of tractor. I took 22 dump trailers of stones off a 12 acre field a few years back, boulder box would have been pointless as it would have been full halfway down the field

that's grand I hired one last year with boulder box it was just handy I didn't have to many big stones it just keeps the middle size ones out of the trench in 7 acres I had about 6 box full

drove a reekie with boulder box for a friend last year and he had to follow me with stone fork and lift all the stones because it couldn't hold the full length of the field, so I drove till it was full and tipped it out and he gathered the stones :) my old destoner with no box would have worked no bother, yes I might be out once to lift off a very big stone but that's it

That was a very tricky field of land, very little topsoil so the deeper the ridge the stonier it got! It's the stoniest iv ever seen. Only hope was a very shallow ridge and a narrower drill it was far from ideal

If your land is like that photo forget boulder box! There is no stones in that! I argued with a man for years that he didn't need a boulder box and he finally tried without it and no way would he go back to having one

A big grower in moira had a Pearson for sale. @ridger I cannot understand your logic in not having a boulder box! It makes the quality of work much better. I couldn't work without one and I always have stone fork in the front as well. If you think you are collecting to many stones just make the gaps bigger allowing more to fall through on to cross elevator!
