When I start the tractor the steering moves left and right on its own,

A pure guess, but I'd be looking at whatever valve controls the flow of hydraulic oil to and from the steering ram. Presumably when you start the tractor that valve will have pressured oil fed to it from the hydraulic pump, which then gets directed by the steering wheel being turned. But if there's a leak in that valve the pressure could be getting into the wrong area and causing the steering wheel to move? One assumes that the front wheels aren't also moving at the same time?

tractors knackered, scrap it. I will take it off your hands. I use to have one years ago and they were great tractors, fancy getting one and doing it up. ?
