Development tax

Before everyone gets excited about the prospect of growing chimneys on their bit of green belt remember the oldish labour policy of a swingeing development tax which iirc directly meant more or less compulsory order prices at circa twice ag value and the developer paid the government the rest of the million pounds an acre or what ever.

Exactly, likely want tax on the 200% of agg value too.

This is the biggest theft in British History.

I do like the wind mill idea though, just seems more efficent to build them on top of the moors.

Better to give planning authority ability to demand more out of the 106, but also to make sure it gets put into local vital infrastructure, before developers are allowed to vacate site.

The only thing needed to reduce development land prices and thus house prices is to allow any land to be built on, of course many landowners and big builders will hate that idea as will the greenies etc far easier to tax tax tax, of course that won't help those struggling to buy an affordable house

A few years ago the council tried to rob some off me for ag value which was £3000 an acre
It was worth £400,000 for houses. With a lot of cost and time we stopped them. They said it was a car park but parts of what they wanted were for utility companies so it was basically a money making scam and misuse of their compulsory purchase powers

I know of a similiar case from back in the day, with one of the New Town Corporations....

This is what worries me labour have already said they have inherited the worst set of books from the conservatives then said they are going to have to make tough decisions plus the new compulsory purchase powers that they have basically said ‘so what’ about upsetting anyone

They had already taken some off us in that field for a lay-by so they had a taste and liked it. We knocked them back but I was never convinced it would go away for ever. Worst part is it is some of the best land we have and joins the farm steading and farm road. They have had 2 or 3 goes now

This is from the Labour Party manifesto...

Landowners with potential development sites get ready to lube up... ☹️

Annoyingly I parked a trailer on the lay-by and got a letter saying I had to remove it off the council. It was in the winter with very little other users at the time. The trailer was moved 3 times a week. There’s a camper van that stays there all year round bar a few weeks and it’s never questioned. It might get a nudge one day soon

Agricultural values paid for compulsory purchased land which has planning potential
The farm valuation has some land with commercial value which is taxable at 40%
I suspect the values apply for the latter not the former
