diary of a comedy sheep farm

thats just the crazy thing primmy......my little place is 'worth' 3 times that...mad .....yet i scrap round like a pauper :scratchhead:

coupla more farmy bits.....they were irrigating maize and sunflowers in charante like mad.....night before leaving some sunflowers being cut....one stripper header....one conventional leaving a rape like stubble

on the way from limoges airport to my friends i saw a very plush new livestock market....built by govt....2.7 million euros.....closed after about a year thru lack of use:oops:
They’re used to selling to dealers so markets are a bit of an alien consent for most of them.

And it’s yours! Value is irrelevant in that situation.
I am 46, I’ve worked my arse off all my life to be a farmer, this year I think with the wind in the right direction and a 700k loan I can buy my farm. I am very happy and very excited ( assuming the bank agree) to have finally made it ……….. I had to change country to do it, I know that you really appreciate what you have but it is very very easy to temporarily loose sight of where we are and what we have. Please please just take a little time to rest and appreciate where you are every so often. We are ALL very lucky to have what we do! Bon courage mon amie. 😊😊😊

wish it was....but if taxman decides more is residential more than agricultural = iht bill:(.........better for me if it was worth less but london money driving prices up crazily:(

needs more acres and a better farmer😁
Find a good accountant. You don’t need more acres and from what I see you are a good farmer, all you
Now need is a plan and a good ‘creative’ accountant. 😊😆

Surely the taxman still considers a sheep farmer a business! Not only that how can they allow you to be a business that is big enough to reclaim vat but not to be eligible for inheritance tax relief?

yes...i mean most would get relief.....but the holiday let...cottage.....horsey bits wouldn't......then fight over the farmhouse if more income from diversification than farming....we've done a lot of planning over the years;)........strawbs arriving hasn't helped iht but is big help paying the bills.....what da you do:rolleyes:

hopefully i'm worrying to much

I hope you are, just invoice things as creatively as you can to have a farm bias. All these toffs who get away with it when they’ve never set foot in a grain store let alone a tractor must have set a president. You are (I hope) worrying far too much. Your proper farmer, the diversification is just to keep the farm running. Start planning hard now for something that whilst inevitable is hopefully a way off. If you don’t think your accountant cuts the mustard find one who does.
