AHOY SHIPMATES :)

captain's log 27/05/20

hms sheep cycle set sail at 09:20 in cool cloudy conditions..a light east prevailing....prior to sailing the crew were briefed on the workings of the vessel but the emphasis was on mission training....the admiral insisted on accompanying us on the ships barge (mum on mule)...unfortunately the tin of custard due to be broken over the bow was found missing:scratchhead:
the enemy, numbering approx 80, was sighted slightly after 09:25 and engaged immediately and with good effect....so much so that by 10;30 they'd been caught/sorted and treated.....the only hiccups were the crew being slightly confused by the ease of operation and the admiral getting the barge stuck a midships amongst the sheep:D ,,,the captain notes the stern was not tested and indeed not quite finished due to a lack of staples:rolleyes:...nevertheless after the successful mission the officers (just me actually) retired to the mess for a rollie and complimentary custard?

Excellent. Boots still fit? Post getting through? Marvellous, marvellous. Keep it up, chaps.

The Admiral should be relieved not to have suffered a similar fate to Capt Cook when surrounded - those natives can be well dodgy.

And the ewe?
?Damm it! I should have known it's a female thing!!??

Truly, all she wants is a 2 second rub between the ears and buggers off! We were given her as a unwanted pet lamb I see why now! This year's daughter comes smells my hand each morning and buggers off then too. Social family that one?! Ok I have a soft spot for them ?

And the ewe?

thats what i thought :D but TBF this is a very 'avant-garde' thread so what cloddy does in his own time and within his own four walls is no concern of ours:D

right thats the funny bit over...today i've been grumpy......perhaps after the dopamine highs of hms sheep cycle it was inevitable

the day got off to a bad start with the discovery of 'nelson' (ear tag 111) ,one of my fave old wilts, dead in field half lambed?......never had that before:(
agronomist phoned ...a lot of aphids in the beet:banghead:....i've got afrisect but i don't reckon that'll do...plus having a browse on the rec i discover i'd overdosed the beet with dow shield 0.3l/ha instead of 0.15l/ha......not the worst disaster though max individual dose is 1l and beet seem ok....in fact despite the drought they're growing like stink(y)

rest of morning tending to ibcs of water and cut out coupla culls for mart on sat......just before lunch a pallet of feed arrived....out the corner of my eye i spotted a coupla snot ambling thru the yard.....lorry unloaded he left only for a flustered driver to run back into the yard...'some o your sheep are running down the lane' he exclaimed....i don't panic anymore i just amble off on the mule.....could be 2 could be 50....to hot/bothered to give a feck:rolleyes: ....turns out is was only the snot who, faced with a lorry one way and open road the other, opted for the latter:rolleyes:

after lunch i set about 'project fryer'.....the revamping of the southern electric fence run...separating it from the rest of the fences and putting a spare mains electric shepherd on it....hot though....couldn't find the sledgy to put in a strainer post so looped insulated feeder cable thru a parked baler?......fired it up...3k volts at fence start...ok but bit dissapointing:(....worse to come though....halfway down it got worse...nil to 1k volts.....i retired defeated and order new galvanised wire:rolleyes:....gotta do the bills but can't be fecked:(

few likeys might cheer me up though??

SCUPPERED

set sail 0800 full of confidence....over confidence:rolleyes:......with only a skeleton crew we were soon found out.....the enemy was scattered over 30 acs they are allowed on but also 30 acs they're not supposed to be on:banghead:....plenty of shade concealed there formations and we were soon struggling.....never the less we captured enough for shearing but only about 90 lambs....heptavac wise.i had 2 x 25 dose and a 125 dose:scratchhead:.....in the end i opened the 125 dose...using the remaining 35 doses later at stalag 17(y)

bo peep and shoes arrived and set to....all was well til around lunch ....bo peep doing a good rate 12-14/hr.....but then the hand piece started playing up and she had to stop :banghead: ....she reckons she can borrow one for now.....i ponder a new handpiece ...HOW MUCH????

4pm i got the munchies....i hadn't really felt hungry at lunchtime..to hot?.......using my ,by now, honed foraging skills i found the remnants of last nights curry.....why does it taste better cold the day after:scratchhead:

6pm headed to stalag 17......the inmates were in 'playful' mood  but we were 'mob' handed;) and the resta bottle hep finished:)
