*(not a clue why these aren't the blackbirds that appear in the preview 🤔 They're meant to be 4 calling birds... have some cockerels instead 🐓 🐓 🐓)

My old fella is having a jaunt into crown with a load.
(Which involved loading some out of one trailer into another, spilt corn in puddles,a tractor with no battery as its now on the main hauling tractor, etc etc. Comedy of errors 🤦‍♂️)

EDIT. In the howling wind with driving rain 🙄🤦‍♂️

christmas

had the best time for many a year  ...... the turkey was the most delicious ........didn't seem like the 'route march' of some years:scratchhead:.......still knacked by today though.... i find socialising exhausting🤷‍♂️.....still not finished 😁 but hoping for an early night and have some energy for a go at the stair case (kwai bridge) tommoz.....finally had thought of a plan christmas eve.....boy might come over to help:)

admiral phoned up early hours in slight distress ....she just needed a chat.....but i could not get back to sleep:rolleyes:.....in the end i did some emails and paid the monthly bills.....finally finished i relaxed only to realise it was time to get up😭

later twas weeta and cakes' oldest 20th birthday 'soire'....cakes did some mini yorkshire puds with little bits of beef:love: + horseradish = yum:love:.......thats what i call volovants😁......anyhoo with tommoz in mind (and my new plan) i needed some slightly different dimension timber.....cept jewsons and ,my usual, thackos were closed til next week:scratchhead:......fortunately there's another 'civils emporium' (impressed flatty?😁)....that we use on occasion and that was open👍.....got there....'we only sell timber in entire lengths mate'.....5.4m...no problem we'll half them👍....'sorry m8 elf and safety i'm not allowed to cut wood'.....'can i borrow a saw?'.....'no can do i'm afraid in case you cut yerself'....in the end i had to buy a saw to cut the wood myself:rolleyes:

you couldn't really get two more contrasting days weather wise than boxing day and today....in the gorgeous winter sunshine the admiral and i rode round the farm and i took some photos for stewardship records

Happy, Peaceful and Blessed New Year to all my fellow readers on the best thread on the forum, and to our great leader and all his nearest and dearest. ❤️

stretching it a bit there in places wrenny but thank you  ......'blushes':bag:

right time for a catch up.....truth is i got another of my 'house restoration obsessions' about the stairs....the psm went into hyperdrive and i exhausted myself mentally every day meaning there was no 'slack' to write this 'squit'😁.....twixt xmas and new year (bar christmas day) i spent 2-4 hours daily on them....i've never built stairs before ....unlikely to do so again....a complicated design needed... they need to rise to first landing ...turn 90 and step to another.....then split each way....left following the original path and right for new run.....the latter complicated by needing to engineer enough horizontal distance to allow adequate space for enough steps for the vertical rise.....add in the previous stairs appeared to rely crumbling wall and woodworm 'holding hands' it's perhaps understandable why the 'chippies' mrs spin contacted were reluctant....actually i think one ran away screaming:scratchhead:

thursday last week......i had to knock down a portion of ceiling i was hoping to stay....trim and treat woodwork.....talk about a fekkin dust cloud:rolleyes:.....mid morning boy came over and helped build frame work that i hoped/speculated would hold my new stairs.....certain trepidation cos my trigonometry is non existent and i'm only a woodwork bodger....level 8 'with merit' though😁

friday....was a route march:rolleyes:......SO....big announcement....i'm going to be a grandad around 20th march:oops:......mrs spin and i are already sorta sub grandparents to boy's partners two from a previous (sam ma and jim pa) but another 'mini spin' is on the way it appears:love:.....i've sorta kept it under wraps but they were due a scan and wanted sam ma to babysit......which was ok cept she had a barn changeover and we'd been invited at noon for drinky poo's at the 'flanders residence'....then twas mu'ad dibs 60th b'day bash in the evening.....cinders and i pitched in on the barn...K came in....still did coupla hours on stairs :bag:

saturday i was fecked....can't remember anything besides 'stairs'

new years eve.....finally schemed a mock up of the right hand stairs and it worked .....exhausted i walked away.....boy's mob came over later ....little one had birthday tea ....some fireworks.....watched 'carry on up the jungle' then saw the new year in via youtube (in Sydney) and were in bed by 8:30😁

new years day....slept in and had day off👍.....like feck i did:rolleyes:....seeing the forecast i carted muck out all day:rolleyes:...only us farmers think like this :banghead:

tuesday was a grim day....rain...plus i had a to do new year list:rolleyes:.....nipped into naam....a dead sheep in:rolleyes:.....builders merchant for bits...'i suppose you're rushed off your feet...first day back an all?'....'nah' was the reply ' builders won't be back til kids go back...then they'll probably say 'whats the point?' and lay off til monday'.....it was 10am and i was their third customer:oops:
back home i unloaded then it was time to take admiral for an appointment about her hands which are ,worryingly, developing arthritis:(......still it rained:rolleyes:....late afternoon i managed to renew our phone contract and emailed leccy company about our 'problem'.....good news ...i got a prompt reply....bad news they've made no progress in 6 weeks....FFS:banghead::banghead:.......mentally and physically i was wrecked ....went to bed 7pm and didn't wake until 6am

today......berli went in for mot and service....expecting a sizeable bill but she puts up with a lot and didn't let me down last year so i grin/bear it......behind with sheep work K and i making a start....brought a few in....found just 3 decent culls and 3 fats ....hope to find some more tommoz......didn't think sheep looked my usual standard...or ...just seeing things 'black':scratchhead:......i was soon to find out....twas my vet attestation visit in afternoon:rolleyes:......admiral chided me at lunch...'sheep look good you fool'😁.....which was borne out by the visit:love:.....i'm now the proud owner of an 20 digit number:rolleyes:😁.....interesting thing...it's the vet practice number...then holding number....then expiry date:)

finally i've been following/'contributing' to the 'rt review /farce thread'.....somewhat perplexed as to why such stupid ppl can be so successful :scratchhead: i 'fed' the problem into the 'psm'.....to my surprise the answer was quick and concise......'the key to selling hypocrisy is believing your own bulls**t'

thursday/friday

something odd going on :scratchhead: ......my face keeps hurting....twas a mystery:scratchhead:......until mrs spin ,rolling her eyes, told me i was using facial muscles i'd not used in a while....i was smiling:oops:....gotta cut that out before it becomes a habit:rolleyes:😁

i was not looking forward to this week....i'd put everything off until the new year to try and have a nice christmas et al.....and tbf it had worked but tuesday came my day of reckoning:rolleyes:......pouring with rain i'd taken admiral to her appointment .....which is what it is but i was starting to fret about making a start on my list:rolleyes:

1/berli in for service/mot:inpain:
2/ wanting to get tack sheep home.....but with no berli...no towbar
3/vet attestation visit:rolleyes:
4/renew phone contract
5/chase electricity dispute
6/ sort sheep out a bit...i thought they're a bit of a mess....but vet didn't blink looking round:scratchhead:
7/ get to mart tommoz

all on top of the usual 'maelstrom' that's my life at the moment:rolleyes:.....anyhoo it panned out like this....

1/ good old berli:love:...i told them to do anything she needed:inpain:....she's my right hand though:).....anyhoo.....all told £520👍
2/ K now has a towbar so bunged some cash and we got tack sheep home......catching them was a bit like a safari...you lot would laugh at our antics :bag:......i took some old bucket crazy ewes over as 'judas goats' cos bloomin tegs were flighty.....turbo no help....limping around he doesn't look worth what i paid:rolleyes:
3/ vet attestation was fine....but then my vets are very sensible👍.....one thing though.....i had to fill out a form...numbers/breeds etc....he didn't pick up on it but later on they phoned back querying our ewe breed...'norfolk hurdlers??'.....i told them they needed to get out more😁
4/ phone contract was easy:oops:
5/ first 'fail' of the list.....made me really fed up tuesday night....resolved to try again next week:rolleyes:
6/ going to worm all the sheep as they come in and probably the snot we'd housed last year....a hurdler was sporting an edema under the jaw....classic haemonchus....i thought we'd wormed them but checking back we'd not....they've lost a little condition.....mineral licks were out.....thats all sorted.....and no it's not fluke btw
7/scrapping round i decided to give mart a miss.....stewardship money is in so we're solvent for a bit.....breathing space to think:)

SO....these 'stairs'..... this afternoon i built the 4 step flight to the 'loft east'.....first time in the house's history:)

20240105_161443.jpg

NOW...i hasten to add these are far from finished......just the carcass....yet to be clad with pine board/bullnose ect.....they may not look straight but they are and are strong as feck😁.....it's a relief tbh that it works......there were times when i considered pitching 'plan b' to mrs spin.....step ladder (up),,,fireman's pole (down,,,,and lets face it fun😁).....buckets/pulley/rope for 'transport'......i ruled it out though.....mrs spin would never go for it....but the main reason.....i wanna keep the bucket/pulley/rope idea 'up my sleeve' in case mrs spin requests an 'en suite';)
