We are re-plumbing a diesel bowser with bigger pump and bigger pipes etc. Has anybody got any recommendations for a thread sealant?

Does it need spotless threads to seal properly?thats the dogs proverbials ,used some today on a outside central heating pipe as had to change the in line filter and couldnt stop seepage , sorted usually use it when cleaning the aga fuel lines
I would unhelpfully say maybe. The lines should really seal themselves..... have they been over tightened? It tends to wreck threads and the mating faces up.Changing the subject I know sort of, but would these also work good for hydraulic pipe seals where they're under pressure? I was going to try some of the gasoila sealer as it was handy at the store, but figured even if I had to order something it would be better than having to do it a third time as I've already tried the worthless ptfe regular sealer to no luck.

Problem was I installed a third function and loader valve assembly that I got somewhere out of Russia I think. Instead of being the usual tapered pipe threads it's like their dies were worn or run in too far - one screwed in by finger all the way? The only way I could get the loader valve fittings to seal was machine some washers and install O-rings to create flat face type seals combined with sealer and using a 1/2 pull bar tighten the living daylights out of it. The third function valve assembly only leaks when it gets hot, but I absolutely hate leaks, so....
Apparently the heldite has high ratings and is recommended for fuel, oil, hydraulics and everything, so I ordered some of it. Says I should have it by March some time. I'll let you know how it goes, but looks like it should work good. Thank You.
