Diesel tank leak

I have a metal fuel tank that has a small crack in the weld about half inch which is letting diesel drip out ,I know i can weld it by draining fuel but is there any silicone or anything that will stick to it, as a temporary measure until tank is empty

Got some stuff from local tractor place ,a tub of goopy stuff gob a handful on and it slowed it right down till i could fix it.i will look in shed tommorow

yes -try some Belzona (there are other brands) semi permanent solution would be to put some stuff on sto stope the leak, then clean the area (and the stuff you just put on) and then another layer as a final coat

I was told years ago by someone who sold tanks, if there was a small leak get a sliver of slate and push it into the hole, no idea if it works, but it's a cheap first try. Oh, it was in a pub, but he swore it worked.

Had same years ago.
Used self tapper screw with rubber and steel washer and worked well.

Can buy a putty stuff,two part repair ,mix it together,it warms up as you apply it ...it works well as a temporary fix.local motor factor will know its name

Liquid metal. I put a good dollop of it on an injector pipe, mainly in hope. It's still holding five years later!!

When working on oil spillages we used stuff called DAM IT. Worked a treat.

Actually I don't think it would catch fire ... but I'm not going to try it .

I've seen it done many times, never any fires
I converted my hedge cutter to 3 point linkage mounted, welded brackets to the tank when it was full of oil
It would take a serious amount of heat to ignite desiel
