Digger hourly rates

Curious about what people are paying currently for operated digger hire? There's about a weeks worth of work with a 9T slew and a 9T dumper. I'll drive the dumper to keep costs down.

We last hired someone in about 15 years ago so a bit out of touch. I do have someone coming round tomorrow for a look but at least a rough idea would be helpful to know if what he quotes is along sensible lines.

A weeks work will get you discount over hourly rates usually, also depends on the spec of the firms your using. An ag contractor with a digger is going to be far less than putting a major firm on ,for example.

Depending on your area and what spec of machine he’s running as well as diesel colour of that particular job, could vari from 37/38 pph up to 50+ pph.
If he’s working for much less than 40 though he’s part of the problem in the plant hire world!!

Anything from low 30’s to best part of £50/hr going by other threads on here.
Anyone working for low 30s either isn’t taking a wage hasn’t change their prices in 10 years or their calculator is broken! Impossible to change plant, maintain it, have a driver on a remotely decent wage and pay for fuel transport etc for that

Quite confident I could get a Hitachi zx85 with driver & fuel for £35/hr & zx160 under £40. It makes no difference to me if someone turns up in a 70-80k digger or a 20-30k one. Its the driver that makes the difference.

Race to the bottom f**k me 16t machine would need to be £50 just under at the least! Good for them turning up with a digger that’s not brand new as long as it’s reliable an does the job it’s probably better than what new would be…but that’s not the point the fact there using a 30k machine rather than 110k one shouldn’t effect the rate they charge!

Seems a lot of people have not updated there rates in 20 years. An 8 ton, even on red will cost £30/hr at least in fuel, upkeep and depreciation. So at £35 he's lucky if he's on a fiver an hour.
