Digger track issue.

One of the tracks on the digger constantly goes down. Had a new seal put in it when tracks and sprockets were renewed but still goes down. Finally lost the track off completely so took it apart and the ram is patchy with rust. Will this be why it's losing grease rather than the seal?

Didn't know you could do that. Sounds like that'd be a good idea while it's already off.

Disagree,the seal is only in sliding contact with the cylinder, so check the inside wall of the cylinder. Bit of rust on the piston wouldn't make no difference in this application
Sorry mistake had a better look thought the seal was groved into the end of the chrome rod, it's not so you need to fix,change the piston bar, a plain chrome bar can be bought cheap enough, just need to weld the mushroom back on the end

The cylinder may have gone out of round with piston chatter if its been a long standing issue or you may get away with a hone to remove rust high spots .Only having a look will tell .
