direct drilling linseed

I have in my yard at the moment a borrowed / hired / stolen Sim Tec 3m drill

I have a couple of fields of linseed to drill which have been over winter cultivated but also have 3 stubble fields which I would like to direct drill , they are in reasonable condition when you put a spade in.
But friend whose drill it is has said although he gets on very well with it planting cereals he has said that planting shallow drilled crops has made him scratch his head , he has no hair on top ,,, so has he scratched his head to much , he reckons that it either puts the seed on to deep or leaves it on the top ,,,,,,,,, thoughts please

We have direct-drilled spring rape with the Simtech quite successfully I think the secret is to cut your forward speed to about 4.5 miles/hour...
There are a number of users on the forum who have a lot more experience than me who might be able to guide you...
(I have only just warmed up after the Leamington farm walk...!)

Not sure about the sim tech but our Duncan was transformed by adding some wedges between tines and mounting bar to alter tine angle - now able to reliably drill at shallow settings - no time now but there is a thread on tff about it - Duncan drill modifications I think?

Only drilled rape with a simtech not linseed but although it was a drill i hired and was totally in the dark it grew into a good crop, linseed is a much bigger seed so cant see it being a problem and if all goes according to plan i have a couple of bags of linseed to do some cover crop with which i will drill with my own simtech
