I know you can reduce the draft on the fan but I don't know how to do it?
I'm sure it will be simple but has anyone done it? as don't you have to do this for grass seeds?

still learning only drilled the winter and spring crops with it so far, last drill was a box drill so quite simple compared
There is a flap at bottom of fan , that directs wind into tube

whats the benefits of using every row (125mm in my case) as appose to say 500mm row spacing then in maize?

my maize is only for cover crop any way
Less messing around, better ground coverage so better weed control. Wide rows are for hoeing, strip spraying and row dependant harvesting. We do none of those so grow it accordingly.

Would be fine for the plants but I suspect not so good for the birds. The guy that shoots my farm drills his own maize. He plants the rows running towards the flush point. I pick up for him and when we blank through a cover the birds will always run down the row and not try to go sideways through the thick maize plants.

Narrower rows means lower plant density in the row. Maybe maize needs sunlight not just overhead. If you're not precision sowing it then there would be less chance of seed bunching with narrower row spacing in theory. Claydon row spacing is 31.57cm on a 19 row 6m Hybrid unless you're using the splitter boots.

Difficult to show height but I showed someone the crop yesterday and asked which one is the dd field (next door was conventionally established) and he picked that one!
This crop is a bit gappy but for no subsoiling etc really happy with it
