Dirty cubicles

Hi guys doing a ot of head scratching we have a modern shed 3 lanes of wilson cubicles for high yielders problem is i think they are setup wrong there is far to much muck on the beds compared to our low yielders shed which have old mushroom type cubicles 200 beds in each shed lows maybe have 60 dirty beds but lows might have only 10 other key diffeences are highs are longer wider hung from the front and sit alot higher above the bed

I am tempted to drop the cubicles as I think they are to high and so cows are able to sit sideays mucking the adjacent beds any ideas welcome

Is it definitely muck (cow pats) in the beds or is it that they are walking in more muck in the passageways and bringing it into the beds on their feet? And are there differences in the muck composition - eg looser in the highs and firmer in the lows which would alter the 'spread pattern'(!!)

Anyone adjusted the neck rail on iae ultima cubicles to keep the beds cleaner. The diagonal from heel stone to neck rail is set at 220cm on ours currently (as per the brochure).
Any experience appreciated before I get the spanners out

our wilson cubicles are dirtier than our older straight leg mushrooms

So are the ones we put in recently compared with the old Cowcoon ones. They swear that the mats are exactly the same but they are 100mm (4") longer on the new ones. Wilson are supposed to be sending us brisket board hangers so we can attached a drain pipe to push the cows back but that was agreed in November & we are still waiting.
Just another unnecessary job that needs doing :(

I have the same problem to much room for cows to lie any shape they want. These cubicles were great when there was a wall in front or a short bed the cow could lie with her head through adjacent cubicle. I shifted neck rail back but made no difference . I think cubicle needs to be higher from the ground to the bottom rail at the front to keep cow lying straight , very hard to fix now.

I would agree about this .
The head rail is all important , as they will stand in the cubicle and will either put their head over or under the head rail. I cant recall the measurement but we had IAE cubicles on one side with a solid bar , and they were dirty as we has pushed the headrail up a fair way to coax the cows into them when they were new !!
So after bringing them back (and you take a measure from the rail to the edge of the heelstone ) they were loads better .(this was after advice from our vet. Will measure it tomorrow)
On the other side of the shed we had portable cubicles with a rope headrail . Always quit dirty with poos about 7 ins from the back of beds and peeded on too.
So set the rings back on the rails to the same distance as the IAE's and loads better now , nearly all cleanish

I found it hard to get good advice on cubicle dimensions for jerseys so when I put two rows in six years ago I put the neck rail 6 inches further forward on one row than the other to see which was better. They've never shown any preference for one side over the other and the beds are no cleaner or dirtier so I've never touched them and they're still different.

Hi guys sorry for late reply phone went for a swim under slats will get photos up and dimensions we did measure up and the head rail on the dirtier side was further forward than the rest so brought it back this has helped but still dirtier than I would like might ad most are Wilson cubicles been in since 2002 cant' widen as are on posts concreted in the extension is IAE comfort cubicles and they sit ferry high and I think all the that space and freedom is making the beds dirty if we droppd the height of them are we sacrificing cow comfort ??? Pics to follow
