Disastrous scanning what would you do?

How much are people paying for crossbred bulls? Assuming My best option is to snap some up as they finish their work on the spring herds?
and how many bulls to cows are people running? I’d normally take a stab at 1:25 cows ie just over 1 a day? Is that miles off?

Just be very careful what a bull can move from herd to herd, I would just go and buy a group of bulls from a renowned breeder £2.5-3k each get them fully fert tested 1:45 should be fine, then when your finished feed them well for 6 weeks and sell them on in. Our Angus's we purchased ran for a season and sold on for the same money.

If they are cycling surely wouldn’t need to go to the expense of cidrs some estrumate would be suffice?

we test semen before it goes near a cow and check the temperature of your straw warmer?

there is getting beef bull breeders over here if you look about! I just don’t like the work of them all year always A few months when they can’t be left with a group of girls

1:20 for unserved animals
1:45 for mopping up

I’m struggling to get a few in calve too. Gets very annoying pding a cow that you’ll guarantee that’s in calve and pd’d empty. I’m putting collars on the cows to try keep on top of them a bit better.
Do you run bulls? I ran a bull with the cows cos I was struggling a few years ago, crickey he got them in calve. Very rough calving dates tho 🤣!

I’m on them for a couple of years now. You’ll notice a massive difference.
Guessing u recommend them? I’m renting them, 2.50£ a collar a month for 5 years, then the 5 years come up then set a new contract. I think it will save buying more when they die? Did you buy outright?
Started another thread as I had a bunch of questions!

Even I’ve been tempted by the allflex ones. Do you have the tags or collars?
Collars have done a lot with Allflex themselves.

Bought outright. Got another 50 on that productivity grant which helped. That sounds a good deal renting

Yeah originally it was just the bottom bar you went off. Now they have the top one which is sexed. Served 997 at 10am but would have no problems serving her at pm milking. Was just easier with flies and de horning
