Had my truck 4 months now and have clocked 4000 miles, for the last couple weeks it’s been telling me it needs a service even though book says 16000miles or 12 months whatever comes first,OH has taken it in today to LR and they’ve confirmed it needs a oil change and filters!!! I’ve refused to pay and they’ve told her as it’s a 2018 model the service interval will be a lot shorter than stated in book! Anyone on here know if this is correct?

I presume that it has the four cylinder Ingenium engine? Let's assume so for now until you tell me different.

This is the very first time I've heard of this issue in a longitudinal engine layout such as the Disco 5. It is a common complaint with the transverse layout, because there is no room in the engine bay for the DPF, and as a consequence it has issues with regeneration. If fails to initiate most of the time.

It has a system very like the just replaced Isuzu 2.5 pickup engine. The reason the service light came on is because the sump level has risen substantially due to a lot of diesel contamination washed down from the cylinder walls during the extra injections during the exhaust stroke, which is meant to light off the DPF.

Make a fuss about this, because thus far LR have shown no inclination to sort the DPF regen system out. Instead, they recommend changing the oil every time the oil level rises, or the light comes on the dash, or every 5000 miles or so. The vehicles are advertised with 20,000 mile service intervals as far as I remember, which makes such early changes completely unacceptable in my opinion.

It is mainly Evoque and RR Sport vehicles in which they have problems and this is the only lengthways installation I've heard of with the issue.

Now you're going to tell me its a V6 :ROFLMAO:

Well I'm at a loss, because these V6 engines, complete with DPF, have been well established in this and prior models. There must have been some disastrous engineering changes to have engines start this nonsense at this stage in their development. It has started to be installed in the Ford F150 in the USA and apart from the pensioners that insist on 3000 mile oil changes, this will not go down well over there. Hopefully they know what's wrong and will rectify it as soon as. Unfortunately there is no sign whatsoever of them rectifying the Evoque and RR Sport with this issue.

It is a peculiar Company that thinks it can get away without rectifying such issues. I believe I read somewhere that the only answer they have so far is to provide one free courtesy oil change between each scheduled change. Many owners need two apparently.

What about the extra wear on the engines that have had their oil diluted by fuel in this way? Some have even had runaway engines, which is terminal.

This is an early Ingenium engine Disco Sport from probably before the issue became known.
