Dishwasher tabs in the rad?

Does anyone do this? Looking to clean up the cooling system on a valtra 8150, have heard good things and seems to make sense to me. Good/bad idea? How many tabs/L of coolant?

Used to chuck a pot of Harpic in the combine radiator and work it for a bit, same principle I expect.

Never done but be careful if there is any ally in the system. Dishwasher tabs are very hard on it.

We used to do this but thought it was sore on water pumps after couple failed shortly after doin this so we stoped it

It doesnt really work. Had a tractor that started overheatin and we used it 4 times and everytime we drained her the water was a brown/black colour but tractor stil was runnin warm so went and got new rad and problem solved. Money we spent on flush was only wasted

HGV garage here used washing soda crystals to flush cooling systems , was years ago though so maybe materials used weren't as sensitive then

Possibly, depends on what it’s made of I suppose

Used Non biological washing powder on my 4755 and it did the trick, just make sure you flush it out really well afterwards.

Why risk spurious remedies when new engines cost so much?

Because I’m not made of money and so I’m trying to gauge the risk:reward ratio of doing the job nice and cheap

I usually find nice and cheap becomes nasty and expensive.

we did it to a tractor that had oil in the radiator, worked well then flushed it out and refilled with coolant to a lower level. don't know how it did long term
