DO WE NEED ANY MORE NEW JOBS CREATED?

ive heard this mentioned a few times recently, one being the green energy revolution will create a further 20,000 extra jobs, i often wonder how they work that out? but why do we need any extra industries or the jobs they create if at the moment there is such a shortage of workers in all sectors across the board ? Im old enough to remember the 1970s 3 day week and the recessions in the early 1990s, when we had major unemployment and interest rates at 16 percent, plus inflation in the 1970s-1980s? I just find it quite amazing today that full employment and major job vacancies exist ?

Yes to creating genuine jobs that pay their way but please no more quangos, inspectors or hangers on who are there for the ride. They all get supplied with a car and an office and cost a fortune just to be in make believe jobs. These people cost us less if they are just left on benefits and do community work.

Those on benefits should be drafted into street cleaning gangs, Anyone not turning up for work don't get benefits,

Theres certainly no reason for anyone to be sat on there arses doing nowt and been paid by the government to do so!
Tillage farmers should be hauled in to get some proper dirty work done, along side the benefit gang. After all, they are bone idle most of the year, and spend the remainder lolling around in clean tractors with air conditioning.
The min till crowd should be made do weekends and bank holidays.

2/3 of benefit claimants are pensioners; about half of the working age claimants are disabled/incapacitated in some form or another and a third claim carers allowance.

So you might struggle to get them out on the streets...

I’ve no issue with the elderly (most of which have worked bloody hard I might add) or those who are ill.

But there is a section of society who have no intention of getting a job as they are downright bone idol. My earlier comments are aimed Foley at them!

I know of a chap who was recently between jobs, within a couple of days he had several options lined up. Plenty of jobs out there for those capable of working as long as there prepared to look for them!

the population still churns great numbers across the globe of capable people that won’t ever work. they’ll use any means possible to bleed the system to support them. Maybe the powers to be should implement a rule that stops long term benefit Claimants from breeding more blood sucking offspring. Also if you move to a country and donot work you get to go home free of charge. one way.

I think the way the world is going, with a drive for ever-greater efficiency and improving technology you will get a natural loss of jobs. Farming is a classic example as many farms are now run by one person but would have been a whole team a few decades ago. New jobs are therefore needed to replace job losses from efficiency gains.

I may have only been out of school 10 years but have never been out of work, Trick I have found is be willing to do different things even in the interim. Learn to network, spend time making a good C.V. My last change in career I found every employer in a 30 mile radius that did what I wanted to do and got in touch. two job offers came of it. That's with me not having the right qualifications. It can be done
