does anyone remember the auction at Lichfield in the 60's

i have been talking with an elderly gentleman who is not well but his mind is very sharp and he was telling me how he used to buy a lot of his machinery in the 60's at the auction at Lichfield as that his where Burgess and other dealers used to dispose of a lot of second hand machines he said that there would be a lot of county crawlers and majors as County 4x4 tractors and the Ford 000 range were taking over and there was not much interest in the old E27N tractors. He bought a Bristol crawler with P3 engine and it arrived at his farm late that night on the back of an overloaded Thames Trader lorry which belonged to a dealer that he knew well.... I suppose you could say the good old days!!!

Remember it very well, never bought there but unloaded some scrappy stuff occasionally, the Irish dealers used to take a lot of the rough stuff back then. The local dealers shifted trade-ins there and made the majority of the entries I think.
